At Cottages at Palm Springs, we believe that great food is more than just nourishment. Senior living dining is a way to create connection, joy, and a true sense of home. Whether it is a comforting favorite or a creative new dish, every meal here is crafted with care by our talented culinary team, led by Chef Rose.
Chef Rose brings her passion for cooking and love for people to every plate she serves. In our Assisted Living and Memory Care neighborhoods, senior living dining is an opportunity for residents to gather, laugh, and share stories. It is part of what makes our community feel so warm and welcoming.
A Midweek Tradition: Luncheon with the Chef
Every Wednesday, Chef Rose invites residents to join her in the community center for a special luncheon. These midweek gatherings are more than just a meal. They are an experience. Often joined by our directors, Chef Rose and her staff treat residents as if they were enjoying a fine senior living dining experience in a restaurant.
While the menu is sometimes a delightful surprise, the dessert is always a showstopper, and residents can choose from a selection of favorite soft drinks on hand. The personalized service, warm hospitality, and friendly interaction make these luncheons a highlight of the week and a cherished senior living dining tradition.
Cheers to Thursdays: Happy Hour Fun
On Thursdays at 2 p.m., the community center transforms into a lively gathering spot for Happy Hour. Residents from both Assisted Living and Memory Care come together to enjoy live music from talented local musicians, each bringing their own style and genre to the stage.
The atmosphere is festive, the seats are full, and the refreshments flow. Offerings include wine, margaritas, sodas, and light snacks such as popcorn or other tasty bites. While Happy Hour is centered on music and conversation, it also reflects our senior living dining philosophy—bringing people together over delicious flavors and shared moments.
An Interview with Chef Rose
We sat down with Chef Rose to learn more about her culinary journey and what inspires her in the kitchen.
How long have you worked at the community?
I have worked for this community since October 2018.
What inspired you to become a chef?
I was inspired to become a chef by my mom. She taught me many things.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
It is the best feeling when I know that the residents enjoy my food.
Is there a dish that holds special meaning for you?
Not any certain dish, but I love being creative with desserts.
How do you make mealtimes feel special for residents?
I like to put some of the residents’ favorites on the menu. I have regular meetings with them and ask for their likes and dislikes. I want them to know their opinion matters.
What role do you think food plays in building community here?
I think that mealtime is one of the most important parts of their day. Without good food, made with love, the residents would not be happy.
What is one surprising thing about you that residents might not know?
That I have been nurturing my gift of cooking since I was very young.
